Dear Friends

Momentum for the Wesley Theological Seminary, Transforming The Legacy/Mathews Symposium is growing. Please see the new website downloads at www.ResurgencePublishing.com

We have revised and improved the Registration form and added a Sponsorship form for anyone to support with their money or time. There is a new Symposium Flyer you may download, print or forward to a friend to invite them to participate or to support the event or both. It’s time to go after students like somebody came after many of us long ago. I have always blamed David Scott and Bob Fischel for my family going to a summer program in Chicago in the mid 60’s.

Track Leadership: A number of you have already indicated you would be willing to present and/or be part of the facilitation team for the workshop tracks. If you would like to add your name to the list, just respond to this email and indicate which track you would like to be a part of. We are looking for a minimum team of 4 to 6 persons experienced in the fields of focus, for each of the tracks.

Call for Papers: If you have a presentation or paper you would like to submit, please let us know soon as we hope to finalize the 4 presentations for each track soon. Look at the suggested presentation titles on the flyer and the website. These can change of course, but give you an idea of the types of presentations we are looking for – practical, focused, existing examples of what is going on. We can of course have many more papers for background reading and as resources for the tracks or the symposium as a whole. Some might also be included in the book we hope to publish. Plan to create a PPT of your paper as well and have the paper itself in electronic form. Even if all are not presented, they all can be provided to participants.

September 26th: We are starting to gear up for a Track Leaders preparation workshop on September 26th in Washington DC. We will be getting more information on date, time and place soon. We will also be making arrangements for an online conference via the internet for others to join in thinking through the focus, content and methods used in the track workshops. Some of you may want to be part of a team that meets in some other location on different dates. That is certainly possible. Let us know.

The Singing of the Symposium: We need a few people to pull together a collection of our great songs that we can print for the symposium. Anyone can nominate a song to be included but please try to find the words if possible. A lot of work has been done in Denver, I believe, to collect these songs. Some of you may also want to write new songs to contemporary tunes. I’m working on one called “Just One Planet” to the theme from the Titanic.

With kindest regards.

M. George Walters
